Discovering Arab-Norman architecture temples.

Day 1: Palermo – Monreale

Visiting Palermo means to go deeply into the different cultures and populations which characterized its history. There are many architectural mirable examples of how different cultures, religions and way of thinking apparently incompatible can coexist: the “Palazzo dei Normanni” , its wonderful Palatine Chapel, the impressive Cathedral, and the “Quattro Canti”.Later In the afternoon we will visit Monreale where Normans people who strongly marked the history of our island, have bequeathed the magnificent Cathedral, decorated with splendid polychrome mosaics.

Day 2: Segesta – Erice – Selinunte

Segesta is a fascinating place with its wonderful Theatre, where still today they play the most important Greek tragedies, and with its impressive Solitaire Temple.
In Erice, a small medieval village with ancient Greek origins, situated on a little hill, you will enjoy a magic atmosphere as time has never passed.
Last not least, the heroic achievements of the Greeks are widely attested in the largest Archaeological Park in Europe, that of Selinunte, which consists of acropolis and necropolis overlooking the sea.

Day 3: Agrigento and Pirandello literary Parc

The day is dedicated to the visit of the Valley of the Temples stated World Heritage Site from Unesco and one of the most famous archeological sites in the world, where among hundreds of almond trees, the rests of the ancient Akragas rise. It was defined by Pyndar “the most beautiful city of mortals”. You will see the “Temple of Hera”, the “Temple of Concordia” and the “Temple of Heracles”.
Agrigento is the hometown of the Nobel Price Luigi Pirandello, famous Sicilian writer. Here, in what he has always called “the city theater”, the Sicilian writer took inspiration for the creation of all the archetypes that live in his literary works. His House Museum contains many relics, letters, photos, manuscripts and paintings which help recreate the human story of the writer.
Later we will visit San Nicola Archeological Museum which houses an exceptional collection of artifacts: the vase collection, the dinos with the oldest representation of the “Trinacria”. The colossal Telamon (m. 7,61) of the Temple of Zeus, the remarkable sculptural work known as Efebo of Agrigento and the Greek and Roman sarcophagi.

Day 4: Cefalù

Cefalù charming medieval town situated in the northern coast of Sicily which lies on the slopes of the Madonie mountains. We will visit the famous Norman Dome rich of Byzantine mosaics, and considered one of the nicest churchs of the Island.
To conclude the visiting day before the departure we will have a walk in Palermo and Mondello, Palermo coastline lined with small beaches where the water is sprinkled with colors of blue and green.
